For the majority of folks, a good foot massage is taste of bliss. Thailand has a rich tradition of complicated treatments for your feet, including soaks, scrubs, reflexology, stretching, sen line work and more. Just imagine a three-hour foot massage starting with a walk through a stream and ending with hot herbal wraps. Yummy! Alas, that isn’t what I am sharing with you today. Sorry! But the Foot Squeeze that follows is a little taste of yummy bliss for your feet that is so easy anyone can do (even your children, hint, hint).
- VIDEO TUTORIAL BELOW –
How to do the Foot Squeeze:
- Sit facing one of your partner’s feet. Grip the foot, one hand on the outside, one hand on the inside.
- One hand squeezes the foot as you lean back to create traction, the other hand loosely holds the foot.
- Release the tension in the first hand and repeat the same action with the other hand, alternating between squeezing the big toe side of the foot and the little toe side.
- Repeat, one hand squeezing at a time, for as long as you like.
Benefits: Increases circulation and releases tension in the muscles of the feet. Traction creates space in the ankle, knee and hip. Gentle release for the low back, especially when done with a good rhythm.
Cautions: If your partner has hip or knee instability, squeeze without the traction.
