Outdoor yoga – such a lovely thing. In fact, nothing inspires my yoga practice quite like
being outside! I’ll often find myself doing a spontaneous practice when hiking alone, overwhelmed by the beauty my senses are taking in. I spend alot of time in the mountains and desert near my home – hiking, practicing, relaxing, renewing, exploring, enjoying… so, I made a video in one of my favorite spots to share with all of you!
This video is derived from my Building a Home Practice series. We completed this series at Yoga del Sol Studio a couple months ago. I pulled from our warm-ups and cool-downs, varied our Moon Salutation slightly and made a full practice, just as we had been doing as homework for the class. This created a lovely practice to open the hips and side body, featuring a nice balance of strengthening and stretching. The rhythm and flow of movement across the mat makes for a soothing practice for the mind. As you move through the practice, remember that all is a suggestion and if a particular pose isn’t for you on a given day, substitute another pose that better reflects your needs for the day. Listening to your body like this is what builds and sustains a successful, satisfying home practice.
If you make changes, let me know, I love to see the creative sequencing that comes from really listening to yourself!
Do you practice outdoor yoga? Would you like some outdoor yoga classes locally? Let me know! I have some ideas cooking in my brain and if we have enough interest, I will pull them together so we can have a regular outdoor yoga class in some of my favorite beautiful locations 🙂
