This Hip Yoga Practice is the culmination of our Yoga for Hips and Hamstrings Series. Each week we did an in-depth exploration of the anatomy and function of major muscles groups of the hips. Not balanced practices, FOCUSSED practices :-). (You can follow these links to refresh your memory on the details, practices, videos and more postures – Hamstrings, Flexors and Extensors, Abductors and Adductors, Rotators and Pelvic Floor, Pelvic Floor Breathing.)
Now, after four weeks of these intensely focussed practices for the hips, we get to a balanced practice. This practice is still meant to bring awareness but will also help you to learn to use all the hip muscles in concert, functionally. So, some stretching, some strengthening, and alot of deliberate, delicious movement. The following practice consists of 12 postures. Below each posture flow, you will note that there are some tips as to what to look for/explore/focus on. Feel free to repeat postures if it enhances your learning experience. Let me know what you discover about your hips!
